4 Steps To Improve Chronic Pain

You may be suffering from pain that is related to a past car accident, sports injury, arthritis pain, disc injury (like a disc herniation or bulge), fibromyalgia, headaches, TMJ problems, or another painful condition.

This post is meant to give you some steps (4) you can take that will have a very high probability of helping you feel better, reducing your pain, and improving your ability to function on a day to day basis.

We’ll link to other blog posts to provide you with more information about each general recommendation. Everyone is different.

We see so many people with a huge variety of painful conditions in our Texarkana office.

The approach for each one might be a little different, even with very similar types of symptoms and diagnoses.

We recommend a multi-prong approach in chronic pain… doing many things to improve your problem, in fact doing all these things will likely yield the best results for you instead of picking and choosing.

4 Steps To Beating Chronic Pain

  1. Improve your diet. Most people don’t realize how much their diet is contributing to their pain. Your insulin levels matter, your types of fats matter, and for so many people – your protein sources matter a lot when looking at what is increasing your pain and inflammation.   2. Start moving more, even if it’s just a very slow progression starting with walking for a few minutes a couple of times a day or some other simple exercise that you can do. Just moving a little more with something as simple as a daily walk or other similar activity can reduce your pain. Exercise and rehab help if done at the right time and in the right amount for you.
  3. Improve your sleep quality / quantity. Sleep problems cause you to experience more pain AND pain causes many people to experience sleep problems. This often results in a viscious cycle of ever increasing pain.
  4. See a Texarkana Chiropractor. The best chiropractor for you will identify changes in your body that are resulting in pain, inflammation, muscle spasms, postural changes, stiffness in the joints and more.

I know recommending seeing a Chiropractor sounds self serving, but it’s a critically important step and one we recommend first because you can get specific advice and often the right treatment for your particular problem that will help you the most.

You may have even seen a Chiropractor in the past with limited success.
