Chiropractic Versus Pain Management

UK researchers find chiropractic care is more effective than pain management clinic in reducing chronic back pain and disability.

Researchers at a National Health Service outpatient clinic (pain clinic) in the UK performed a study to see if chiropractic care could be beneficial for patients suffering from chronic (pain lasting longer than 12 weeks) low back pain and how the changes compare to traditional pain management.

Chiropractic Scores Better On Chronic Back Pain Relief and Improvement In Disability in UK Study.

Patients referred to a regional pain clinic were assessed and randomly assigned to either chiropractic or pain clinic management for 8 weeks of treatment for chronic back pain. 

The researchers used Roland-Morris Disability Questionnaire and Numerical Rating Scale which are standards in the medical industry used to assess pain and disability.

At the end of the 8 week treatment period of either chiropractic or pain management…

Patients treated with Chiropractic Care had an improvement that was MUCH GREATER than those treated with Pain Management.

The researchers concluded that chiropractic treatment for chronic low back pain was effective for reducing both disability and pain.
